Methazolamide（醋甲唑胺）是磺酰胺的衍生物，是碳酸酐酶（CA）的抑制剂，可有效抑制CA的同工酶CAII和CAIV，IC50值分别是8.1 nM和80.3 nM。醋甲唑胺已广泛用于治疗青光眼，其通过降低碳酸氢根离子的形成，减少内眼中流体形成的速度，随后降低钠和液体的输送能力。最近的研究表明，醋甲唑胺可以作为胰岛素敏化剂，抑制肝葡萄糖生成，而其他CA抑制剂没有这种效果。
