Dimesna是OAT家族的抑制剂，对于OAT1、OAT3和OAT4的IC50值分别为636 μM、390 μM和590 μM[1]。
OAT（有机阴离子转运子）参与多种生命过程，如多种内源性、外源性物质及其代谢物从体内的清除。通过分子克隆的方法发现，OAT在介导肾脏和肝脏去除有机阴离子方面扮演重要角色[2]。
Dimesna是一种OAT抑制剂，多用作尿路保护药物。在肾小管细胞系LLC-PK1中，与IF代谢物联合时，dimesna疗法可发挥尿路保护功能[3]。在人类肾脏近端小管HK-2细胞中，dimesna可在细胞中积累，并在减少化疗诱导的毒性上扮演重要角色[4]。
