2',2'-Difluoro-2'-deoxyuridine is an active metabolite of the anticancer nucleoside analog gemcitabine .1It is formed by deamination of gemcitabine by cytidine deaminase in the liver. 2',2'-Difluoro-2'-deoxyuridine is cytotoxic to HepG2 and A549 cancer cells (IC50s = 3.13 and 3.92 µM, respectively). It enhances radiation-induced cell death of ECV304 and NCI H292 cells when used at concentrations ranging from 10 to 100 µM.2
