Desethoxy quetiapine is an active metabolite of the atypical antipsychotic quetiapine .¹It is formed from quetiapine primarily by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP3A5 and binds to dopamine D₂receptors (IC₅₀= 1,330 nM).^2,1Desethoxy quetiapine (20 and 40 mg/kg) reduces climbing induced by the dopamine receptor agonist apomorphine in mice. It also improves apomorphine-induced swimming deficits in mice.¹
