DJ101 is a novel and potent tubulin/mitotic inhibitor, also called microtubule destabilizer, with high anticancer efficacy in several tumor models including lung metastasis in melanoma-bearing mice and paclitaxel-resistant xenograft mouse model. It is metabolically stable and can circumvent the drug efflux pumps responsible for multidrug resistance of existing tubulin inhibitors. DJ101 was originally discovered by the researchers at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
