Ebiratide is a 6 amino acid peptide, sharing its sequence with fragments of adrenocorticotropic hormone and α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Absorptive-mediated endocytosis of ebiratide has been demonstrated in cultured brain endothelial cells and in vivo by microdialysis and capillary depletion methods. Ebiratide has neurotrophic properties which may prove beneficial in the therapy for CNS degenerative disorders, especially Alzheimer's disease.
