SMIM5 (Small Integral Membrane Protein 5) is located on human chromosome 17q25.1. The SMIM5 protein is broadly expressed in stomach, kidney and other tissues. Structurally, the encoded SMIM5 protein is reported to be 8540 Da in mass. The SMIM5 (also known as PP12104; C17orf109) gene is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, and mouse. 196 organisms have orthologs with human gene SMIM5.
