RDH14 (Retinol Dehydrogenase 14, also known as SDR7C4) is a Protein Coding gene. The RDH14 gene, located on 2p24.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, fruit fly, N.crassa, and frog. RDH14 displays high activity towards 9-cis, 11-cis, and all-trans-retinol, and shows a very weak activity towards 13-cis-retinol. RDH14 belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family and is widely expressed in the heart, prostate, and other tissues. Diseases associated with RDH14 include Bothnia Retinal Dystrophy and Fundus Albipunctatus. Among its related pathways are Signaling by GPCR and the Metabolism of nucleotides. 147 organisms have orthologs with the human gene RDH14.
