背景信息：

Astrin/SPAG5 被发现是有丝分裂提取物中的一种微管相关蛋白 (1)。它对细胞组装双极纺锤体结构并进入有丝分裂的过程非常重要 (1, 2)。Astrin/SPAG5 还被发现是一种与精子尾部外周致密纤维有关的组分 (3)。此外，这种蛋白在细胞应激反应期间负调控 mTORC1 活性 (4)。在应激条件下，Astrin/SPAG5 与 mTORC1 组分 raptor 相互作用，并募集 raptor 到应激颗粒，从而抑制 mTORC1 的形成 (4)。mTORC1 抑制可防止其过度活化，从而避免细胞在应激期间凋亡 (4)。此外，Astrin/SPAG5 还是乳腺癌的一个预后标记物 (5)。
