Background:

C16 Ganglioside G_M3-d₉(d18:1/16:0-d₉) is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of C16 ganglioside G_M3by GC- or LC-MS. C16 Ganglioside G_M3(d18:1/16:0) is a monosialylated ganglioside. It has been found in human fetal frontal lobe tissue isolated in the 27^thgestational week but not in human fetal anencephalic residual brain tissue isolated in the 28^thgestational week.¹C16 Ganglioside G_M3(d18:1/16:0) is higher in the serum of patients with visceral fat accumulation (VFA) and patients with VFA and dyslipidemia compared to healthy lean control subjects.²Serum levels of C16 ganglioside G_M3(d18:1/16:0) are inversely correlated with erythrocyte counts in patients with hematological diseases, including patients with lymphoid neoplasms.³[Matreya, LLC.
