Background:

3-Epideoxycholic acid (EDCA) is a secondary bile acid and an epimer of deoxycholic acid .¹EDCA has been used as a steroidal host compound for the enantioselective purification of (2R,3S)-3-methyl-2-pentanol from its racematesviaenclathration.²Fecal levels of EDCA are decreased in patients with pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).¹
