Background:

Acetyl hexapeptide-3 is a synthetic acetylated and amidated hexapeptide consisting of amino acid residues 12-17 of synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25).¹It inhibits formation of the SNARE complexin vitroin a concentration-dependent manner. It also inhibits calcium-induced norepinephrine release in permeabilized chromaffin cells (IC₅₀= 110 μM). Acetyl hexapeptide-3 (10% in an oil-and-water emulsion) inhibits decreases in type I collagen levels and skin thickness, as well as increases in type III collagen levels, in skin in a mouse model of subacute aging induced by D-galactose when administered topically.²
