Background:

Dopastin is a bacterial metabolite that has been found inPseudomonasand an inhibitor of dopamine β-hydroxylase (K_i= 4.7 µM).^1,2In vivo, dopastin (20 mg/kg) reduces mean systolic blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Dopastin also inhibits the germination of barley seeds (IC₅₀= 47 µM).²
