Background:

Ancymidol is a plant growth regulator.¹It inhibits oxidation of the gibberellin biosynthetic intermediatesent-kaur-16-ene,ent-kaur-16-en-19-ol, andent-kaur-16-en-19-al, but notent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid, in immatureM. macrocarpusseed endosperm preparations.²Ancymidol slows shoot and root elongation ofPhaseolus vulgariswhen used at concentrations ranging from 0.316 to 316 µg/ml.¹
