Background:
Penigequinolone A is an alkaloid isolated from Penicillium. It is lethal to P. penetrans (LD50 = 100 mg/L) but has no effect on C. elegans at concentrations up to 1000 mg/L. Penigequinolone A also accelerates the root growth of rice seedlings in a dose-dependent manner.
