Ebselen oxide, formed by the oxidation of ebselen, is a novel and potent inhibitor of Histone deacetylase (HDAC1/3/4/5/6/7/8/9). It can be used for the treatment of cerebral infarctions and is an excellent scavenger of peroxynitrite. Ebselen oxide doenot have antioxidant activity, and thus can serve as a negative control for Ebselen.
