Alizapride (MS 5080; Litican, Plitican) is a potent dopamine receptor antagonist with prokinetic and antiemetic effects and can be used for the theropy of nausea and vomiting. Alizapride demonstrates little toxicity (particularly after parenteral administration) in mice and rats. Alizapride is mainly excreted as unmodified drug after oral or parenteral administration; however, a share of about 25% undergoes metabolic transformation before deletion. Alizapride (5 mg/kg, s.c.) antagonizes the decrease in gastrointestinal transit induced by the above doses of Apomorphine in the rat.
