Gefitinib selectively inhibits EGF-stimulated tumor cell growth (IC 50 of 54 nM) and that blocks EGF-stimulated EGFR autophosphorylation in tumor cells. Gefitinib also induces autophagy . Gefitinib has antitumour activity.
