性质描述:

无色略有粘性的液体。熔点＜-40℃，沸点244.2℃，163℃（6.67kPa），129℃（1.33kPa），102℃（0.4kPa），94-96℃（66.7Pa），相对密度0.9422（20/20℃），折光率1.4530（22℃），闪点129℃。溶于醇和醚。在水中溶解度为0.6%（重）。水中该品中的溶解度10.8%，无气味，有吸湿性。

生产方法:

先由丙烯合成丁醛，在碱或酸的催化下，丁醛自身缩合生成2-乙基-3-羟基已醛。这一化合物很不稳定，经加氢即得2-乙基-1,3-已二醇。

用途:

用于有机合成，可制取聚酯树脂、聚酯增塑剂、聚氨酯树脂等。该品对蚊蝇是有效的驱虫剂，也可用于生产化妆品或作为油墨溶剂。
